The Path of Our Forefathers is a stacked loop nature trail, with loops 3 and 10 km in length. Local guides help visitors enjoy the trails. The strategically placed interpretive signage allow visitors to enjoy a self-guided experience at their leisure.

Prior to centralization of the community, Lennox Islanders lived spread throughout the 1320 acre island. During the early 20th century, the community lived an interesting combination of a traditional lifestyle combined with subsistence farming. As the trail wends its way along the shores and forests of Lennox Island, it passes the former homestead sites of many interesting people from the community’s past.

As you walk the trail you pass the former farm of Joe Tuplin, who came to Lennox Island as an infant in 1890, and became an important elder in the community. You will learn about people like Lem and Madeleine Labobe who were known for their fine medicines. The trail passes the former home site of Denny and Matilda Lewis, respected elders in the community.
